  OUR HISTORY - ABOUT US

St Mary the Virgin is an Anglican Church (Church of England) that is firmly rooted in the Catholic (Anglo-Catholic) tradition. At St Mary's we use incense, wear vestments, have a place of reservation for the Blessed Sacrament, say a daily Mass, make our confession and celebrate all seven Sacraments of the Church. We are under the Episcopal care of the Bishop of Richborough - The Right Reverend Norman Banks SSC.

We are a friendly, growing community, witnessing to the Catholic faith as received in the Church of England. All are welcome to join us, young and old alike. Jesus calls us to each take our place, and He wants to meet you, and will welcome you in with a smile and out stretched arms.

We seek to follow the ways of Jesus Christ in our community. We do this by offering hospitality, and details of forthcoming events and Mass times can be found on this website. We pray for all our local community at our daily Masses. We also have a thriving Junior Church which is held during the Parish Mass on Sundays, we would love to see more youngsters at Junior Church!

St Mary's also has it's own Church School (St Mary's CEVA Primary Academy) and the Parish Priest visits the school on a regular basis delivering assemblies, leading classes and saying Mass.
